ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.
Results are already adding up. Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved enough energy in 2009 alone to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 30 million cars — all while saving nearly $17 billion on their utility bills.
Having an Energy Star Certified laptop means that it meets the following criteria:
- Your laptop must contribute significant energy savings.
- It must deliver the features and performance demanded by consumers, in addition to increased energy efficiency.
- If the laptop costs more than a conventional, less-efficient counterpart, purchasers will recover their investment in increased energy efficiency through utility bill savings, within a reasonable period of time.
- Its energy consumption and performance can be measured and verified with testing.
